He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hughes and Laura Larsen Hughes; his wife Mary Ann Rupinski Hughes; and his siblings, William Hughes, Ruth Landwehr and Celestine Nichols.
He is survived by: his children, John L. Hughes (Mary), Laura A. Hughes, Robert D. Hughes (Diane) and Karen L. Southern (Bill). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
