LaDonna Bates Obituary
We announce the death of LaDonna Bates of Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania, born in Bluford, Illinois, who passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 84. LaDonna will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Franklin "Franky" Green and Fern Johnson Green. She is survived by: her children, Douglas Green Eaton Bates (Jen) and Allison Dixon Johnson Bates (Brian) of Reader's Digest; her husband Bill; her daughter Adelaide; and her grandchildren, Will, Tory, Posey, Greta and Winny.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:45 PM at the Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home (100 Center Ave, Aspinwall, PA 15215). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 6:45 PM at the same location. The pandemic allowed Bill to transition to working from home, so he could care for her.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to your local library, or at least give someone really emphatic and deserved praise.
