He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Mengel and Dorothy Mengel (Gradwell); his daughter Lori Fischer; his brother Bruce Mengel; and his siblings-in-law, Betty and Robert Weitz.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Mengel (Lowthert); his daughter Lisa Dower (Michael) of Wyomissing; his son-in-law Samual Fischer; his grandchildren, Jessica Stabile, Michael Dower, Caleb Fischer, Seth Fischer and Matt Fischer; his great grandchild Emerson Staile; and his sister Nancy Weitz of Frackville. He is also survived by Nieces and Nephews.
