“Dave was one of my best friends in life and I will miss him very much. I met Dave in August of 1986 during UK baseball tryouts. I was a lowly out-of-state Walk-on, but Dave still took the time to introduce himself to me and encourage me, and I will never forget that. He helped me out many times thereafter and I could always count on him to be there for me as a great friend. He had his faults, like all of us, but he was a great guy with a big heart and a great sense of humor. -Joe Welch”
