He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Ellwood and Louise Smith Cogley. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Gilligan Cogley; his children, Matthew Jr. of Pittsburgh, Beth Cogley of Franklin Township and Chris Cogley of Pittsburgh; and his grandchildren, Alan, Matthew, Ashley Lees, Bryan Cogley and Tierney Smith. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, and three brothers.
