William R. Campbell Obituary

William R. CAMPBELL, 79, of Galeton, PA, died Friday, August 21, 2026 in the Comfort House of Allegany County, Wellsville, NY.

Born December 13, 1946, in Coudersport, he was the son of Oliver and Elizabeth Van Steamburg Campbell. On July 29, 1972, in Galeton, he married Janet L. Clark, who predeceased him on August 6, 1987. On September 10, 1992, in Gaines, PA, he married Lynne Grove, who survives. A 1964 graduate of Galeton Area High School, he served honorably with the U.S. Army National Guard. Bill owned and operated Campbell Trucking, Inc. in Galeton from May 13, 1985 until his death. Bill loved snowmobiling, dirt track racing, 50's music, and casino hopping. He enjoyed going to coffee at the Ox Yoke and Plaza Café. In the last ten years, he enjoyed many trips out west and took each of his grandchildren to Disney World.

Surviving besides his wife, Lynne, are: eight children, Billy (Julie) King of Melbourne, FL, Julie (Anthony) Cimino of Galeton, Lisa (Michael) Glatfelter of Manchester, Michael (Leslie) Campbell of Galeton, Justin (Nicole) Campbell of Coudersport, Julie Marie (Daniel) Hurlbert of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle (Jared) McCutcheon of Coudersport, and Brian (Rachel) Campbell of Clarence Center, NY; 17 grandchildren; a brother, John (Brenda) Campbell of Galeton; a sister, Nancy Campbell of Galeton; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Janet, he was predeceased by an infant son, Timothy W. Campbell.

A gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be held at Moon's Big Red Barn, 453 Rowley Road, Ulysses, PA 16948 on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, with a brief service at 4:00 PM. Rev. Scott Ogden will officiate.
