He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Starner and Louella Starner (Young); his former wife Betsy K. Starner (Van Ness); his wife Rosalyn Starner (Meineker); his close friend Marian Kline; his daughter Nancy Starner; and his siblings, Peggy Shugert, Maxine Harris and Charles Starner.
He is survived by: his children, Gretchen Famous (Daniel) of Norristown, PA, Robert Starner (Abi) of Lancaster, CA and David Starner (Terri) of Landisville, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one nephew.
