Joseph Michael Harbison Obituary
Joseph Harbison, of Garnet Valley, PA, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Born April 12, 1964, Joe grew up in Highland Gardens in Chester, PA and graduated from Chester
High School. Joe was a skilled carpenter and a hard-working maintenance man.
Joe loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, boating, and family bonfires. He valued working with his hands, keeping his childhood tradition of cooking ham and
cabbage for holidays, and eating crabs. He always found humor in the darkest flaws of life. He was the first to find thrill in the daring experiences, such as bungee jumping, trying the spiciest foods, and riding roller coasters.
Joe was a man of great strength who overcame many challenges in his life. He survived stage IV cancer twice — first diagnosed 13 years ago — and rallied through many years of treatments, surgeries and recurrences. Joe fought valiantly against cancer until the very end, passing away on January 8, 2020 at age 55.
Joe is survived by his wife, Susan, his children, Timothy, Amanda (Mike), Brandon, Jack, Bethany and James, his grandchildren, Autumn, Michael and Eliza, his siblings Denny, Eileen and Patty, and his mother-in-law, Sue, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Jimmy and Terry, and his parents, Henry and Mary (O’Boyle) Harbison, and his father-in-law, Chuck.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the GoFundMe page created by Joe’s friends, in his honor, would be appreciated.
