He was predeceased by: his parents, Rozsa Roth-Szappanos and Pal Roth-Szappanos. He is survived by: his son Budapest; his siblings, Adam and Judith; his sons, Jake Boritt and Beowulf Norseen Boritt; his wife Liz; his son Dan (Katie Moreau); his grandsons, Henry and Leo; his great grandchild Jake (Heather Ross); Lincoln, Ellis and Sadie Rozsa.
He also helped create the Gilder Lehrman Institute, a leader in improving the teaching of history in schools and, and served on the board of the Gettysburg Foundation, helping to build a new visitor center for Gettysburg National Military Park.
