He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd A. Smith and Dorcas R. Smith (Shearer). He is survived by: his daughter Peggy Ann Smith (Mike); his granddaughters, Kayla Feninez and Kasey Smith; his sister Ruth Flinchbaugh (Dean); his nephew Joel Flinchbaugh (Kim); and his niece Amy Flinchbaugh. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
