With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Trudy A. Barnes of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Trudy had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Trudy may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Saunders and Mary Louise "Keith" Mauston Saunders. She is survived by: her son Derek Barnes of Gettysburg; the father of her child Keith Barnes of Ft. Washington, MD; her siblings, Gary "Weasel" Mauston (Korena) of Gettysburg, Jacqueline Saunders Zapata (Rodolfo) of Orrtanna and Karen "Nettie" Holmes (Bobby) of Gettysburg; and her friend John Schilling of Laurel, MD. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Monahan Funeral Home (125 Carlisle St, Gettysburg, PA 17325). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gettysburg High School Alumni Association, PO Box 2172, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
