He was predeceased by: his parents, Rhudell W. and Mary C. Gates (Foster); and his brothers, James, Marvin, George and Clarence.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine A. "Polly" Lewis; his son Richard G. "Rick" Gates; his grandchildren, Elam (Katie), Riyo, Brian (Crystal), Grace, Bradley, Gigi, Shyann (Jimmy) and Dravin (Payton); and his great grandchildren, Kaylee, Aaden, Callaway "Callie", Finley, Ava and Cora.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the McQuown Funeral Home (2305 Skyline Dr, Glasgow, PA 16644). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
