He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Kehrli Shafer and Stuart George Shafer; his son Scott David Shafer; and his siblings, Suzann Groh Webster and Samuel Groh (Joyce).
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Shafer; his children, Debbie Gibbons-Neff, Barbara Carpenter and Brian David Shafer (Lynne); his grandchildren, Lyndsey, Peter (Catie), Connor (Madeline), Hunter and Luke; his great grandchildren, Jack, Winnie and Georgie; and his stepgranddaughters, Stevie (Andy) and Polly (John).
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Maris Grove Chapel (200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the Maytown.
