He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. Markel and Emma Markel (Weiss); and his sisters, Emma and Dolores. He is survived by: his wife Catherine L. "Kate" Markel of Limerick; his children, James F. Markel (Jan) of Glen Rock, PA, Marcie Godby (Jim) of Gilbertsville, PA, Harry Markel (Nance) of Bethel, PA, Paul Markel (Mari) of Carlisle, PA and Lisa Willis (Brian) of Collegeville, PA; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Justin, Josh, Laura, Christine, Harry Jr., Emma, John, Paul Jr., Jessica, Zach, Jake, Luke and Seth; and his great grandchildren, Bennett, Connor, Regan, Brayden, Logan, Alex, Samantha, Lydia and Adeline.
