Myrl Bortner Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Myrl Bortner of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 11, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Bortner and Augusta Bortner (Graser); and his siblings, Arlene Markel Myers, George Bortner, Marguerite Myers, Lewis Bortner, Jr., Dorothy Stetzer Flemmens, Anna Dubbs, Leona Wildasin, Clyde Bortner, Donald Bortner and Thelma Thoman.
He is survived by: his wife Joanna Bortner (Dietz); his children, Stanley Bortner (Cindy Lassiter), Steven Bortner (Sondra) and Susan Barnhart (Kevin); his grandchildren, Evelyn Bortner, Samantha Bryner (Kevin), Stephanie Bortner (Brett Bonner), Abbey Burnell (Evan), Matthew Barnhart (Alexis) and Jacob Barnhart; and his siblings, Paul Bortner (Violet) and Mary Swartzbaugh (Ashley). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Christ (5152 Stone Church Rd, Glenville, PA 17329). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to St. Jacob's Stone UCC or the St. Jacob's Stone Cemetery by mail at the address above.
