He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia; his parents, John J. Howard Sr. and Marion Howard (Connor); and his siblings, Helen Fitzmaurice (Robert), Mary Edwards (Atwood), Kathryn Ray (Alan), Jane Abramovic (Joseph), Daniel Sr. Howard (Betty), Thomas Howard (Barbara), Francis Howard (Sylvia) and David Howard (Kathy).

He is survived by: his children, Patricia McGrath (Michael), Kathleen Robinson (Nevin) and John J. Howard III (Peggy); his grandchildren, Alyssa Schmitt (Jeb), Lauren Little (Matt), Michael McGrath (Stephanie), Shawn Robinson (Tiffany), Katelyn McNally (Kevin), John Howard and Kristen Howard; and his sister Rose Liptak (Milan) of Mt. Lebanon. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children, 135 Clelian Heights Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601.
