He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine Ann Istenes; his parents, Edward J. Istenes and Agnes Ehrlich Istenes; his grandchild Alexis DiSilvestro; and his siblings, Agnes P. Joseph, Edward J. Istenes, Joseph E. Istenes, Margaret C. Istenes, Anna T. Meyer, Dorothy M. Bier, George J. Istenes, Viola M. Nemeth, Raymond R. Istenes (Surviving) and Ruth Ann St. Clair.

He is survived by: his children, Catherine Belles (Robert), Roberta Istenes, Sharon Marie Istenes and Lauren DiSilvestro (Mark); his grandchildren, Candice Istenes, Michael Perez Jr., Robert Belles III (Laura), Rachel Malone (James), Ryan Belles, Tyler Belles, Jonathan DiSilvestro and Alexandra DiSilvestro; and his great grandchildren, Vivianna Forlini and Robert Belles IV.
