He was predeceased by: his parents, Clay Mickel and Ethel Hawk Mickel; and his sister Beverly Gregory (Peter Gregory, Sr.). He is survived by: his sons, Don, Jr. and Leigh DePew (Becky) of Honesdale; his nephews, Peter (Cathy) and Russell Gregory (Wanda); and his extended family, Tom, Heather, Anthony, Kayla Pruss, Cindy Pruss, Jason Schnell, Alex Featherman, Addyson Pruss, Levi Schnell, Andy and Regan Pruss. He is also survived by cousins and many friends.
