He was predeceased by: his parents, Livingston S. Gilbert and Alverta I. Gilbert (Carr); his grandchildren, Gwen Kelly and Ben Bortner; his brother Merle Gilbert; and his half-brothers, Vernon Gilbert and Donald Gilbert.
He is survived by: his wife Betty (Warner); his sons, Daniel R. Gilbert (Cecelia) of Woodlawn, VA and Jerry A. Gilbert (Shirley) of Hanover, PA; his grandchildren, Gary Gilbert, Shelley Mathias and Ashley Lippy; and his brother James Gilbert of Sebring, FL.. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
