He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard J. Bowling and Fannie G. Bowling (Rose); his wife Mary C. Bowling (Sneeringer); his siblings, Josephine McCleaf, Frances Weishaar, Irene Myers, Ruth Cluck, Marie Bream, Louis, Raymond, Howard and Herbert; and his grandson Michael Niedererr.
He is survived by: his sons, Gilbert Patrick Bowling, Jr. (Eileen) of Gettysburg and Dr. Christopher A. Bowling of Hanover; his grandson Noah Niedererr of Hanover; and his great grandchildren, Daniel, Maia and Liam Niedererr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Delone Catholic High School General Scholarship Fund.
