She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas G. Wood and Violette N. Wood (Shifflett); and her sister Shirley Pope. She is survived by: her husband Nelson E. Layman, Sr.; her children, Tammy Layman of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Nelson E. Layman, Jr. (Wendy) of Williamsport, Maryland and Tanya Staehling (James) of Hanover, Pennsylvania.; her grandchildren, Jordan Ayton, Kaleigh Ayton, Joshua Staehling, Andrew Staehling, Tyler Layman, Sophie Butts, Jacob Staehling and Shane Layman; her great grandchildren, Savannah, Cameron, Corinne and Callie; and her sister-in-law Cheryl Custer (Roland) of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Believe in Tomorrow Children's House at Johns Hopkins which provides free accommodations to families with children receiving critical care treatment.
