He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Shafer and Mary Shafer; his son Michael; his sister Diane; his granddaughter Gracie; and his great grandchild Sebastian.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda; his children, Edward (Sarah), William (Shari), John (Bobby), Charles (Julie) and Ginger (Derrick); and his siblings, Nancy Gelsie (Jim), Dave (Cathy), Randell (Saundra) and Jeff (Linda). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
