Coleman Carter Obituary
Coleman Carter, son of Anna E. Stannard Carter and the late Ellis P. Carter, was born Thursday, June 10, 1948, in Harrisburg, PA. Educated in the Harrisburg School District, Coleman graduated from the former William Penn High School and retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force where he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Outstanding Unit Award.
Coleman found fulfillment and contentment in gardening and jazz music. On Thursday, October 24, 2019, in his seventy-first year, while at UPMC, Harrisburg Hospital, Coleman departed this life joining in eternal life his father, Ellis P. Carter, and his brother, Anthony "Papoose" Brim. Coleman's memory and legacy will be cherished by his mother, Anna E. Carter of Harrisburg; five sons, Michael Carter (Latrice), Marcus Carter, Steven Carter, Robert Carter, Makini Moore, all of Harrisburg; five sisters, Jeannette Cornish of Paterson, NJ, Elizabeth Carter, Annette Roy (Michael), all of Harrisburg, Sharon Johnson (James) of Acworth, GA, Judith Boampong (Thomas) of Austell, GA; two brothers, Gregory Carter of Norfolk, VA, Patrick Joyce of Harrisburg; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
