With sadness, we share the passing of Eleanor Mary Gordon of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Eleanor, born on December 28, 1940 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, passed away on September 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Simon Cherivtch and Anna Cherivtch (Zaorsky); her sons, Michael and Christopher Gordon; and her brother John Cherivtch.
She is survived by: her husband David Joseph Gordon; her children, Clare Elizabeth Gordon-Finnegan (Steffan Finnegan), Ann Catherine Gordon, Emily Suzanne Gordon-Stapp (Jimmy Stapp) and Matthew David Gordon (Alexis Jade Nemeroff); her grandmother Babcia; her grandchildren, Sophie, Isabel Finnegan, Georgia and Owen Stapp; and her sisters, Carol Carr and Simone Zoladz. She is also survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, colleagues, students, friends, and lifelong neighbors.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (2800 Paxton Church Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
