He was predeceased by: his parents, Felipe Diaz Santiago and Petra Serrano Sepulveda; and his granddaughter Gabriella Reyes-Miller. He is survived by: his children, Miguel Diaz (Sonya), Aberto Diaz (Nannette), Carlos Diaz (Vicki) and Nelida Reyes (Enrique); and his siblings, Maria Esther Arroyo, Pedro Diaz, Anna Diaz, Carman Diaz, Tomasa Diaz, Neilda Torro and Margo Diaz. He is also survived by his grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
