He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Mattie and Mary Mattie (Husar); his former wife Margaret Mattie (Stecina); his wife Catherine Mattie (Polchin); and his sisters, Marie Aussner, Irene Byorick and Anne Undeck.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Lynn Palma (Thomas) of Virginia, Lorrie Ann Johnson (William) of Florida, John Mattie III (Denise) of New Jersey and Mark A. Mattie (Isabelle) of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Gabriel's Church (122 S Wyoming St, Hazleton, PA 18201). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
