With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Z. Bretz of Hegins, Pennsylvania, born in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 11, 2024 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin German and Naomi Zerbe Bretz (Ernest Bretz); his granddaughter Holly Ann Madenford; his brother Franklin Z. Bretz; his former wife Carol; and his sisters, Lorna Mae Bretz and Ona Renee Shartle.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy Reinoehl Bretz; his daughter Amy (Scott Dawson) of Pine Grove; his granddaughter Misty (Josh Krammes) of Pine Grove; and his sisters, Zora (Wendell Fabian) of Wexford and Cora (John Shenk) of Pine Grove. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Hegins Area Ambulance Association, 352 Gap St., Valley View, Pa. 17983 in his memory.
