He was predeceased by: his wife Marie M. Mertus (Meseros); his parents, Louis Mertus and Catherine Mertus (Szaradics); and his son Anthony F. Mertus. He is survived by: his sons, Louis J. Mertus (Jodi) of Bethlehem Township, Jeffrey M. Mertus (Faye L.) of Macungie, Thomas E. Mertus (Nancy A.) of Allentown and Andrew A. Mertus (Lori A.) of Hellertown; his daughter-in-law Deborah Mertus of Bethlehem; and his sister Marguerite Nyce of Telford. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. (326 Main St, Hellertown, PA 18055). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown (85 Main St, Hellertown, PA 18055). A reception will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 12:15 PM at the Carriage House (326 Main St, Hellertown, PA 18055).
