He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Lutes and Eleanor Lutes; his wife Patricia Lutes; and his brother John Lutes. He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Hovan (Eric) and Kimberly Lutes; his grandchildren, Noelle Hovan and Thomas Hovan; and his sister Linda Timko.
