With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Catherine (Mahoney) E. Cottell Bigart (Honesdale, Pennsylvania), born in Staten Island, New York, who passed away on May 28, 2025 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Mahoney and Anna Elizabeth Wimmer; her stepfather Gustave Wimmer; her siblings, Mary Ropes, Raymond Wimmer, Robert Wimmer, Raymond Mahoney and Claire Kelly; her husband Melvin Cottell; her former husband Eugene Bigart (Bunk); her great grandchild Aiden Melvin Irwin; her grandson Michael Cottell; her friend Cathie; and also, Maureen Dennis and Elizabeth Burns.
She is survived by: her children, Theresa (late Robert Diehl), Catherine (William Kelly), Karen (John Burkavage), David Cottell, Peggy (Thomas Meszler), Mary (Theodore Moser), Jeannie (Deacon Robert Warnock) and Cathie; her son-in-law Bill Kelly; and her caregivers, Charlene and Casey. She is also survived by her 7 children, 32 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (414 Church St, Honesdale, PA 18431).
