He is survived by: his wife Joyce Southerton (Dickhut); his children, John Southerton (Debra), Jeffrey Southerton (Susan), Lisa Bryant (Kevin) and Kelly Hocker (Eric); his sister Diane Simmons; and his siblings-in-law, Christine and Harold Derrick. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
