We announce the death of Gregory Paul Schmitt Sr. of Houston, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 69. Gregory will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph E. Schmitt and Catherine I. Magerkurth Schmitt; his brothers, Ralph E. Schmitt, Jr. and Richard Schmitt; and his close friend Ron "Bird" Hamilton.
He is survived by: his children, Cathy Schmitt-Crook of Canonsburg, Gregory Schmitt, Jr. (Sherri) of Bellaire, Ohio, Justin Schmitt (Jessica) of Canonsburg and Angela Senay of Houston; his stepdaughter Amber Billman (Jeff) of Erie; and his brothers, William Schmitt of Houston, Douglas Schmitt (Kathy) of Canonsburg and Raymond Schmitt of State. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many lifelong friends.
