He was predeceased by: his parent Shirley Mayes (Peters); his stepfather Thomas Mayes; and his stepdaughter Rebecca Bennett. He is survived by: his father James "Tip" Mitchell of Bellefonte; his wife Amy L. Bierly; his stepmother Kathy; his daughter Stephanie K. Matis (Drew) of Howard; his stepson Douglas E. Bennett (Chacea) of Julian; his siblings, Spencer Mitchell (Nancy) of Howard, Wendy Brungard (Jeff) of Blanchard and Jason Mitchell (Mary) of Zion; and his grandchildren, Kaleb Matis, Luke Matis, Grayson Bennett and Brynlee Bennett.
