He is survived by: his wife Sandra J. Lockard (Alsop); his children, Marianne Bird (William) of Indiana, Bernard Lockard, Jr. (Robyn) of Indiana, Jane Lockard-Clawson (Mike) of Indiana, Connie Cramer (Eric) of Indiana and Amy Lockard-Conforto (Tony) of Indiana; his grandchildren, Laura Engle (Matthew), Kathleen Harris, Maria Shirley (Craig), Meghan Lockard, Bernard Lockard III (Kate), Brendan Lockard, Maureen Starapoli (JP), Ash Lockard, Kristin Fisher (John) and Brendon Hurd; his brother Larry G. Lockard of Indiana; and his pets, Miley and Otis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Bernard to a charity of one's choice.
