She was predeceased by: her parents, George E. Hay and Emma L. Hay (Shafer). She is survived by: her husband Norman W. Shaffor; her daughters, Deborah Walker (Christopher) of Conover, Ohio and Elizabeth McCloud (Jeffrey) of Elizabethtown; and her grandsons, Nathaniel and Maxwell McCloud.
She participated in two summer National Science Foundation Institutes for teachers, which resulted in a faculty position at Shippensburg.
