He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hartmann and Wilda Hartmann (Earnest); and his sister-in-law Sharon McMurray (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Emily A. Hartmann (Arlet); his son Dondi Hartmann; his siblings, George Hartmann (late Kathy) and Jean Klein (George); and his sisters-in-law, Saundra Regrut (late Jim), Bonnie Follett (Chris) and Debbie Moss (David). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
