He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert L. Truax and Edith Truax; and his siblings, Donald, Lawrence, Richard Truax, Catherine Packard, Margaret Homler, Marguerite Johnson, Wanda Letterman and Marion Young.

He is survived by : his wife Sharon (Green); his children, John Jr., Colby (Emily), Nicole (Will) and Shari; his granddaughters, Quinn, OceAnn, Ilanna and Foennix; and his sisters, Joanne Fisher, June Getgen and Shirley Chapman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Heroes & Horses or the American Cancer Society in John's memory.
