He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sweeney and Elizabeth Sweeney; and his siblings, Robert "Butch" Sweeney, Jack Sweeney and Rita Snee.
He is survived by: his son Joseph Jr. (Robin); his granddaughters, Tara and Kayla; his son Craig (Danielle); his granddaughter Natalie Sweeney; and his siblings, Betty Boni of Elmhurst, Patricia Betti of Jessup and Thomas Sweeney of Jessup. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
