She was predeceased by: her mother Iris Smith; her husband Louis Carter; and her siblings, Lee "Sonny" and Louise Bush. She is survived by: her nephew Darnell Bush, Sr.; her godchildren, Rostina Gordon, Necole Bush, Parrish Pridgen, James Bush, Antoinette Bush and Faith Coleman; her great-nephew Darnell Bush, Jr.; and her close friend Roxanne Berry. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
