He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Burkett and Ruth Burkett (Holsopple); and his sister Anna "Pumpkin" Cowan. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Burkett (Bush); his children, Matthew (Kristy), Amanda (Quenteen), Justin, Brandy, Chad Varner (Jean), Judy Pebley (Keith), Jason Varner (Des) and Jennifer Varner; his grandchildren, Ruca Burkett and Carolyn; and his siblings, Harold (Mary), Linda (Barry "Ike"), Donald, Daniel (Debbie), Margaret (Tony) and Darrell "Bubba" (Theresa). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Davidsville Community Church (197 Pender Rd, Johnstown, PA 15928). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
