She was predeceased by: her parents, Irvin Howard and Mollie Howard (Mele). She is survived by: her husband Robert E. Grafe; her daughters, Marsha Swansboro and Cindy Bailey (Dave); her grandchildren, Breana Bailey (Brennan Smay), Ashley Frese (Travis) and Nathan Bailey (Tony Apesos); and her pets, Milo, Luna, Beckham and Hank.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Henderson Funeral Home East Hills (2503 Bedford St, Johnstown, PA 15904).

The family asks, per Joan's request, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to Laurel View Village (The Caring Fund), 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, PA 15928 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
