He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Bender and Catherine Bender (Link); his parents-in-law, Frances (Fannie) and George McDowell; his son Richard E. Bender Jr.; and his brothers, Martin (Agnes) and Regis Bender (Carol).
He is survived by: his wife Nancy J. Bender (McDowell); his daughters, Rebecca (Gary Woodruff) and Bonnie; his father-in-law William Oleksak; his grandson Christopher Woodruff (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Dylan and Colt of Windber, PA; his grandchild Ryan Woodruff (Amanda Renee); his great grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory, Molly and Maverick; his granddaughter Amanda Woodruff; his great grandchild Kael of Johnstown; his grandchildren, Will Oleksak and Casey Lovette (John Lovette); his great grandchild Olivia; his brother-in-law George McDowell (Kathleen) of Maui, HI; and his close friends, Chris Zamboni and Bill Aurandt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
