BALON---Theresa M., 97, Richland, passed away on June 11, 2025 at home. Born January 2, 1928, in Johnstown, daughter of John and Mary (DeFazio) Catalfano. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles J. Balon Sr.; daughter, Donna Mapes and son, Christopher Balon; 11 brothers and 7 sisters. Survived by children, Charles (Janet) Balon, John (Vicki) Balon, Richard (Best friend, Meghan), David (Linda), Edward, Jeff (Shannon), Randy, Ronald (Cathy), Joseph (Jennifer), Barry, and her estranged daughter, Deborah McDaniel (Lester Jr.); son-in-law, Gary Mapes; 17 grandchildren 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Spadaro (Ernie Whitehead), Connecticut and Carmeline Wagner, Ohio. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including special niece, Lisa Spadaro. Theresa was a Life member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and growing and tending her roses. She enjoyed hosting her family in her home for the holidays and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. Theresa was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Slovak Band Hall in Cambria City for many years. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland where vigil will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal, Richland Cemetery.
