He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay I. Schlegel and Zora Schlegel (Stewart); and his siblings, Mary Jane Robison, Zora Brandt, Nancy Wetzel, Genevieve Pannier, Beverly Burdette, Myra Burlew, Gloria Oliver, Helen Bloom, Irvin, Jay, Gary, James, Warren, Dan, Charlie and William Schlegel.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra (Adams); his children, Christopher Schlegel (Laurie) of Omaha, Jeffrey Schlegel (Pamela) of Mechanicsburg and Susan Schlegel of Julian; and his grandchildren, Makaela Moran-Schlegel, Tyson Moran-Schlegel and Collin Schlegel.
