She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Peterson and Mary Ellen Peterson (Luck); her husband Leonard Johnston; her brother Roger Peterson; her in-laws, Shannon Donald and Lorraine Johnston; and her grandparents, Bernard of Kane, Ellen Luck of Kane, John of Kane and Nellie Peterson of Kane.

She is survived by: her children, James Johnston of Mt. Jewett, Shawn Johnston (Shawna) of Kane and Michele Avenali of Kane; her grandchildren, Ryan, Mason Avenali and Ashlyn Avenali; her brothers, Bruce of Cincinnati, OH, Darrell Peterson (Patty) of Cincinnati, OH and Robert Peterson of Evanston, WY; and her stepmother Faye Johnston of Snow Camp, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
