He is survived by: his son Sean Whalen of Collegeville; his grandchildren, Mary Gennett (David Stevens) of Philadelphia, Kathleen Coulter (Douglas) of Hamilton, VA, Nicholas, Joseph, Lee Ann, Shane and Paige; his sisters, Joyce Buchinski (Charles) of Eagleville and Rita Karczewski (Walter); and his sister-in-law Mary Whalen of West Chester.
