He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph "Padge" Cherneski and Bertha Cherneski (Poplaski); his wife Reginia Shalongo (Jean) of Shamokin; his siblings, Joseph "Slugger" Cherneski, Thomas (Julia (Worhaz) Cherneskie), Margie Cherneskie (Jazwinski) and Robert Shalongo; his sister-in-law Connie (Shalongo); Verna Shalongo (Moleski).
He is survived by: his nephew Tom; his brother Joe "Slug"; his daughters, Michele (Joe Lynch) of Elysburg and LouAnn-Cherneski Tamborelli (Keith Tamborelli) of Kulpmont; his grandson Dominick; his nephews, Robert (Jenny Cherneskie) and John (Kirsten Cherneskie); his uncle Lou; his sister-in-law Edie Shalongo (Todd); his cousins, Rosemarie Dunick, Victor Boris and Vince Poploski; his friends, Junnie Gard, Micheal Benedetto and Dennis Klock Sr.; and his extended family Spencer (Dyllan Connell).
For most of Louis' life, he helped the Church on Tuesdays by volunteering at Bingo from the early 1970s until it closed during COVID in 2020.
