He is survived by: his wife Karen Rice; his children, Van Carpenter (Lisa), Ruth Sauers (Stephen) and Christine Harbin (Justin); and his sister Nancy Rice Kiddoo (Donald). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
