He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon G. Detz and Mary Jane McLaughlin Detz; and his grandson Brett T. Brown. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie A. LeBreton Detz; his children, Gerald B. "Jerry" Detz Jr. of Ashville, NC and Christina Burkett of Lancaster; his stepson Brett A. Brown; his close friends, Roberta Upton of Mountville, Robert Brown of Conestoga and Dan (Lana Brown) of Lititz; and his siblings, John (Lois Detz) of Millersville and Joan M. Detz of Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Jerry's memory to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
