He was predeceased by: his parents, James Oswald Sr. and Ann Oswald (Stash); his wife Janis Oswald; his son Lewis J. Oswald II; and his siblings, Roy Oswald, Diann Condren, James Oswald and Keith Oswald.

He is survived by: his sons, Eric Oswald (Cristal), Keith Oswald II (Cherie) and Travis Oswald (Carolyn); his daughter-in-law Krissy Oswald; his siblings, Debby Gorman (Damian) and Barry Oswald (Gerry); and his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Desiree, Damian, Ashlee, Maddie, Cole and Harper. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
